NEW YORK, NY — June 9, 2026 — New York City subway riders are getting their first glimpse of FIFA World Cup 2026™ excitement as country-inspired train wraps officially begin rolling across the MTA system today.
Launching across select subway lines throughout the five boroughs, the immersive transit takeover celebrates all 48 nations competing in the tournament. Developed in collaboration with the FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ Host Committee, New York City Hall, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the initiative transforms one of the city’s most recognizable public spaces into a moving celebration of the world’s game.
Each wrapped train features bold visuals and stylized country flags, united by Lady Liberty’s torch to bring the energy of the tournament directly into neighborhoods across all five boroughs. The campaign was developed and executed by New York City-based creative studio Burn & Broad, whose designs are bringing the excitement of the FIFA World Cup to the World’s Subway.
“When a train wrapped in the colors of Senegal pulls into Harlem, or a subway car carrying Morocco’s flag rolls through Astoria, it tells a story about who we are as New Yorkers,” said Mayor Mamdani. “This city was built by people from every corner of the globe, and for the next few weeks, every corner of the globe is coming to us. Get on the train to experience the most beautiful city in the world during the beautiful game.”
“This World Cup will be the biggest and most inclusive tournament in history, and seeing the spirit of participating nations travel through the heart of New York City is a powerful symbol of the unity the game inspires,” said Alex Lasry, CEO of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ Host Committee. “For generations, the subway has connected people across this city, and these train wraps will bring the excitement of the tournament directly to New Yorkers and visitors alike, creating moments of pride, curiosity, and connection throughout the five boroughs.”
The first FIFA World Cup 2026™-branded train has officially entered service on the 1 line, featuring Senegal and France, some of the first teams that will compete at New York New Jersey Stadium during the tournament. Additional wrapped trains will roll out in phases over the coming days and weeks, expanding the tournament’s presence across the region as kickoff approaches.
